Writing good test questions takes time. Is the question rigorous enough? Was it adequately covered in class? Are the questions across a test varied in depth of knowledge?
Pulling from a bank of weak items won't tell you much about what students know. The Mastery Item Bank by Instructure is a standards-aligned item bank of more than 130,000 questions, each one reviewed at least five times for accuracy, bias, and sensitivity. A multi-state study linked its use to higher state test scores in ELA and math.
