Last year, we welcomed Gemini LTI™ to the Canvas ecosystem, bringing the power of Google's cutting-edge AI directly into your Canvas environment to empower both educators and students. Today, we're thrilled to announce a significant evolution: the integration of NotebookLM and Gems with Gemini LTI™!
What's New: Deeper AI Integration for Enhanced Teaching and Learning
This new enhancement allows educators to create and publish rich, AI-powered resources directly within Canvas using Gemini LTI™, providing foundational support for students to help them learn more confidently.
- Understand anything with NotebookLM: Educators can now attach notebooks directly in Canvas, which can house relevant teaching materials, empowering students to learn at their own pace and explore concepts deeply.
- For Educators: Effortlessly outline lessons and define learning materials with AI assistance, ensuring students have a cohesive and accessible resource grounded in your materials.
- For Students: Gain a holistic understanding of course material and create podcast-like Audio Overviews, supporting 75+ languages, to learn on-the-go or Mind Maps to visually summarize assigned class content.
- Personalize learning with Gems: Educators can now attach Gems - customized versions of Gemini that you can personalize to be experts on any topic - directly in Canvas.
- For Educators: Quickly generate assessments and discussion questions with a Gem grounded on your syllabus, speed up literature reviews and summarize research papers with a Research assistant Gem, or engage students with interactive simulations using a Gem grounded on assignments and readings.
For Students: Get personalized study guidance and practice quizzes with a Gem grounded on past assignments and exams.

- Automatic Sharing: The Notebooks and Gems attached to your Canvas Course will automatically be shared with users in the course.
- Private and Secure: Rest assured that Gemini LTI™ , like all Google Workspace for Education tools, is protected by Google’s industry-leading security infrastructure. When using Gemini with your Google Workspace for Education account, your data is not human reviewed or used to train AI models.
