What’s New with Canvas and Google Workspace for Education

Share

Distributing and grading classwork is part of every teachers’ day—but when it comes down to it, teachers would rather be teaching than doing anything else. In Google’s partnership with Canvas, we understand this desire to streamline the everyday tasks of grading and assigning, with attention given to security and work integrity. That’s why we’re always eager to share what’s new with our Canvas partnership.

With Google’s introduction of a new Workspace for Education editions earlier this year, we’re again focusing on tools that save time and ease administrative tasks—all while allowing education organizations to maintain high standards for student work.

We’re proud of Originality reports, a feature that uses the power of Google Search to help students integrate external inspiration into their writing, while making it easy for instructors to check for potential plagiarism. In Google’s Teaching and Learning Upgrade or Education Plus solutions, schools get not just unlimited originality reports, but also the ability to make student-to-student comparisons on their domain-owned repository of past submissions.

Our partnership with Canvas also helps us bring educators tools for sharing templates and  worksheets with students, along with the ability to add rich feedback faster using the customizable comment bank.

Accelerating digital transformation with Google

As many organizations discovered early on in the pandemic, there’s also a lot more control and flexibility in Google Meet. With Workspace for Education’s Teaching and Learning Upgrade, Meet users can connect with up to 250 participants or live stream with up to 10,000 in-domain viewers. In addition, Meet now has plenty of ways to keep attendees engaged in meetings and lessons—like interactive Q&As, polls, attendance tracking, breakout rooms, and recordings.

For many organizations, Workspace for Education Plus, Google’s most comprehensive edition, is the best option for bringing about a complete digital transformation. For example, users receive added Google Drive storage.
