I’m very excited to announce our newest member of the Instructure leadership team, Shiren Vijiasingam. He starts on Monday as our new Chief Product Officer.
Shiren steps into a role that Mitch Benson filled for close to eight years! Mitch led the product function during a critical period of growth. We recently named him as our Chief Strategy Officer, overseeing global strategy for both Higher Ed and K-12. Mitch now leads a new team focused on delivering a unified vision to support Instructure’s major growth initiatives including corporate development, M&A, and partnerships.
Mitch led the search for our new Chief Product Officer, and it was clear out of the gate, Shiren would be an ideal candidate to help Instructure grow and create new levels of innovation. We were struck by Shiren’s deep experience in the development of market savvy products as well as educational tech (more than two decades of product experience and more than ten years in education technology.) He previously served as Chief Product Officer, both at Newsela, a K-12 content platform and General Assembly, the pioneer of career transformation education. Shiren also led multiple product teams through transitions to outcome based planning (aka Inspired model) and I look forward to him driving our product development process transformation
Shiren will oversee Instructure’s Product Management, Product Marketing, Design and Product Analytics teams in their continued growth as we invest even more aggressively into our core capabilities as a company. His history of focus on creating innovative solutions that empower educators and reach learners with highly-engaging experiences is going to help Instructure deliver an integrated product roadmap that moves us toward the vision of tomorrow’s educators today.
We are thrilled to have Shiren play a pivotal role in building the Instructure Learning Platform and helping us deliver on our core mission of elevating student success, amplifying the power of teaching, and inspiring everyone to learn together.
Please join me in welcoming Shiren to the team!
