Honoring Juneteenth and Reaffirming our Commitment to a Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive World

      Instructure Family:

This Saturday marks Juneteenth, the oldest known holiday honoring the end of slavery in the United States. This holiday persists as a joyous reminder of what Black people have overcome and a somber remembrance of the lives destroyed by centuries of oppression. As a company of life-long learners dedicated to our communities, we recognize the need to stand together to continue the long march toward justice.

In observation of Juneteenth, we will be closing our US and international offices early on Friday, June 18.  We will have a reduced support model in place to ensure that our customers’ needs are covered, but allowing our team to participate in Juneteenth activities.

We acknowledge Juneteenth as a day for celebration, education, and connection and thus our goal is to give Instructure employees an opportunity to have meaningful conversations with family, friends, and their communities. We understand that these systemic issues will not be solved in one day, and that an office closure is a symbolic gesture. However, we continue to create space for important discussions and meaningful actions through our internal Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Council. Our company’s commitment to inclusion and diversity runs deep, yet we must continually strive to dig deeper and do better.

Our company was built to support learners and exists today to help people everywhere learn and grow. We believe education is a critical component in eradicating systemic racism and oppression. To promote continued learning, we’ve invited our community to help pull together a collection of educational resources that explore tolerance, give historical insight into the impact of racism, and raise awareness about ways that we can work together to create change. A few of those resources from Canvas Commons are highlighted below.

      Equity and Social Justice

      Privilege, Tolerance, & Diversity

Understanding diversity, delivery systems, and service populations in family and human services

As the world continues the necessary work of creating true equality for all people, we will remain committed to our core values to help our employees, customers, and community.

      Keep Learning,
