Mastery Item Bank 

To help educators assess students’ understanding of concepts and track standards mastery, Instructure provides the Mastery Item BankTM, designed to guide instruction at the district and classroom levels. The Mastery Item Bank is a dynamic, expertly developed item bank of over 100,000 English standards-based items that allow educators to quickly measure student performance.

Spanish Translated Items

To help support the unique needs of English language learners (ELLs), the Mastery Item Bank also includes 24,500+ ELA, Math, and Science items that have been translated into Spanish. Translated items allow educators to assess students’ understanding of concepts without testing English ability.

• Mastery items have been translated using universal Spanish.
• English equivalents are provided to allow for parallel test forms.
• Many factors are considered when determining which content to translate, including avoiding content that does not translate appropriately (e.g., poetry passages or English vocabulary items).
• Transadaptation is used when necessary to retain the integrity of the item content in the translation, and to ensure that the Spanish content is valid and reflects the principles of solid item construction.
• To provide increased flexibility for educators and more content to ELL students, educators may translate additional items and passages into Spanish.
• The items are dynamic; if an update is made to an English item that has been translated, the Spanish version is updated as well.
