Craig Ring

Learning Consultant, Instructure

I am a Brit that made a leap to beautiful Brisbane in 2022. I channel both passion and experience with technology and education to support users of Canvas LMS. Having worked as a project facilitator with ACU during their Canvas implementation, I am now a Learning Consultant for Instructure APAC and support the needs of customers across the region.

For four years I was an Assistant Headteacher (SENCo/Learning Support/EAL and other responsibilities) at a diverse and inclusive secondary school in North West London. The role gave me experience with implementation and strategic leadership around education policy, cohesion with external agencies and ensuring accountability across the school in meeting the needs of all learners. Towards the end of my tenure I led the school to Centre of Excellence status for inclusion through Inclusion Quality Mark. I was a Music and Performing Arts teacher in the UK for 11 years with experience in vocational and academic sectors. I completed a TESOL qualification in 2022.

I have successfully led full school projects involving change management. I have planned and delivered many professional development programmes for staff and frequently led individual training sessions for staff and students. I have also written articles for publications on education technology and presented at conferences.

I completed a MA in Educational Leadership at UCL Institute of Education in December 2021. I successfully completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs Coordination through UCL Institute of Education in July 2019. Once in Australia, I completed a second MA in Secondary Teaching which included placements in some wonderful schools. Throughout my time in education, I have regularly engaged in professional development including the EEF and UCL's Maximising the Impact of Teaching Assistants Project and the HCTSA Aspiring to Deputy Headship course.

I have experience in the pastoral, curriculum and logistical elements of a secondary school. I am an innovative, creative and experienced teacher of Music and Performing Arts. I am skilled with pedagogy, creative teaching approaches, Canvas VLE, Google Apps, Microsoft Office 365 and thrive when given a project or problem to solve. I have also had experience with supporting adult education through my work as a practice educator for social work students at Middlesex University and teaching interns from the University of Connecticut.
