Why educators (and students) love Canvas

One of our favourite things about Canvas is the small barrier to adoption. You are up and running quickly with little help. However, in that simplicity comes a lot of power. It’s a great learning environment we have here. People are taking on technology, and Canvas has become part of the language.
With Canvas and it being a software as a service arrangement, that allows ACU to just focus on things that it can control. We don't have to worry about the learning management system being up or supported or running or having enough memory or running on the right server or any of those sorts of things. Troy SeverinoIt takes away that load for and enables us to focus on the business of the LMS rather than the technology of the LMS.
Canvas made life a lot simpler. It was very straightforward. We were able to just log on first thing in the morning, see what we needed to do throughout the day, and then build on that throughout the week.
Education is changing rapidly. We’re moving away from unilateral lectures toward active learning. Discussion, collaboration, and participation are becoming central to the active learning experience. Peer learning and peer teaching are especially important, and Canvas enables that kind of collaboration.
