“International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.”

International Women’s Day is a day dedicated annually on March 8 to celebrate women’s achievements and raise awareness about women’s equality and gender bias and has been celebrated for over 100 years.

In recognition of International Women’s Day, we asked some of the #WomenofInstructure to share inspirational quotes made by women who’ve had an influence on them. Beginning on March 8, and over the next week, we’ll be sharing these quotes across our social media platforms.

While the quotes themselves are impactful, we wanted to share a bit about why the particular quotes were selected. Our goal on this International Women’s Day is that we take a moment to celebrate women who are making a difference to advance women’s equality and #BreakTheBias.

“The quote below resonates with me because it reminds me that my voice and my path matter. And that while it is important to listen to others' opinions, it's extra important to not be consumed by them.” - Heather

“Salma is a strong and assertive Mexican woman that has faced rejection, discrimination, and sexism. Seeing her encouraging others to speak up when important is very valuable because it inspires me to make my voice be heard.” - Melisa

“A humble winner is beautiful. Serena's entire career is competing, yet she uses her success to inspire others rather than keep others down. We can be strong AND kind.” - Christina

“When women speak up to share their opinions, they are often viewed as, "loud, rude, and unladylike." It is crucial that we break down these walls and stand up for what we believe in, and in doing so our character is not questioned.“ - Ireland

On this International Women’s Day, it’s our hope that these inspirational quotes and the impact they’ve made on the #WomenOfInstructure can continue working to #BreaktheBias in every space where women are showing up.
