Help Students Succeed with Learning Analytics
Most of us aren’t clairvoyant, so thank goodness for Canvas K-12 learning analytics. It pinpoints concepts students aren’t grasping, which assignments they’ve missed, and who needs extra help. Consider it a proactive early warning system that zeroes in on individual student problem areas for early intervention. Statistics are available for students, classes and schools—or across schools—for comparison.
Painless Standards Alignment and Reporting
Canvas K-12 makes it a cinch to track state standards and common core objectives. Simply select from pre-populated objectives and align them with course assessments—that’s it. Objective mastery is recorded automatically during the normal grading process. Reports are always up to date, with no separate reporting system required. Objectives can be linked to an assignment, to specific criteria on a grading rubric, or even to individual quiz questions.
Parents Co-Enrolled from the Get-Go
Parents are co-enrolled in Canvas K-12 with their student automatically. They can view their own child’s grades, upcoming assignments and due dates, missing work, and teacher communication—a text message for example that their student has an exam the next day. Teachers can send individual, group, and course-wide messages to students and parents, who can also subscribe to receive immediate notification on events like grade or due date changes. Students can communicate safely with teachers and each other without needing to be Facebook friends.
Student Learning Anytime, Anywhere
It’s true. Canvas K-12 can be accessed anytime on any device from anywhere—at school, on the bus, or at a friend’s house. Students can create content in Canvas themselves and collaborate effectively with peers and teachers. Studies show that online collaboration tools help boost student engagement and reduce disciplinary action and dropout rates.
A Range of Additional Features
Canvas K-12 has it all. For example, SpeedGrader simplifies assignment grading by finding and displaying everything needed—including student files—in a single window. Teachers can view most files in the browser, without having to download them, and can also leave text, audio, or video feedback. What’s more, creating and managing course content is a snap—no programming knowledge required. Canvas K-12 is a single, integrated system that bundles attendance, assessments, grading, state standards tracking, messaging, learning analytics, and more—while at the same time keeping everything simple, easy and in one place.
Sign up to use canvas in your class and as K-12 features are released (mid 2012) they will automatically be added to your account.
