Portfolium will provide ePortfolios and assessment to 9,400+ Radford University students and faculty to help students reflect on curricular and co-curricular experiences and help faculty better track and assess student learning outcomes.

Portfolium, a leading cloud-based ePortfolio platform that enables students to capture, showcase, and convert skills into attractive job offers, announced today that they are partnering with Virginia’s Radford University to provide Portfolium’s ePortfolio and Assessment solution to its more than 9,400 students.

Portfolium allows students to showcase their academic and creative work, connect with peers and potential employers, and launch successful careers while simultaneously providing flexible assessment management with customizable rubrics, curriculum mapping, and reporting for faculty and administrators. Even after students graduate, they will be able to use their lifelong learning ePortfolio profiles free and continue to curate these profiles as they advance their education and ultimately enter the workforce.

Radford University needed an ePortfolio and Assessment solution because traditional artifacts were no longer sufficient for both faculty and students. They realized that authentic evidence and assessment of learning and credentials are needed and valued by their institutional stakeholders. Several program directors, department chairs, academic leadership, and faculty members collaborated to select Portfolium in order to build a student-centered technology culture on campus and have already seen enthusiasm around the new technology both from students and faculty. Portfolium will directly impact two key initiatives including the realization of the Strategic Plan and the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).

“Portfolium is a great tool for driving our school’s mission, and to enhance civic and community engagement learning outcomes while prioritizing competency-based education,” said Charles Cosmato, Director of Radford University’s Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning.  “In both students and faculty, Portfolium will increase understanding of how academic credentials relate to career destinations while also showcasing tangible evidence of academic progress.”

“Portfolium will be an essential instrument in supporting Radford University’s commitment to continuous review, evaluation, and improvement in the curriculum and all aspects of the university,” said Troy Markowitz, VP Partnerships at Portfolium.  “The platform exponentially enhances the connection between classroom and profession while providing faculty and administrators with a modern tool they need to assess student learning and support accreditation.”

On campus, Portfolium will help to strengthen and promote utilization of Radford University’s student service structure by leading students from their transition into Radford University, through their graduation, and toward their unique personal and professional path in life.  Portfolium will also enable students to build multi-dimensional ePortfolios, making them more attractive to potential employers.

Portfolium and Radford University are hosting a live webinar on 1/30/18 at 11 AM PST to discuss with attendees how to successfully break down institutional silos in order to focus key academic leadership members on systemically building a student-centered technology culture on campus.
