Pasadena City College (PCC) has chosen Portfolium’s Student Success platform to provide students with the ability to capture learning artifacts and link them directly with competencies made searchable to employers.
Portfolium’s ePortfolio technology will allow students to gain lifelong access to curricular and co-curricular learning artifacts that can be used to reflect on skills as certified by the National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE), as well as build personalized learning pathways throughout college and beyond as alumni. These skill-tagged artifacts can then be leveraged by students to land internship and employment opportunities through Portfolium’s unique social network and TalentMatch features.
Along with a campus-wide rollout, PCC looks forward to utilizing Portfolium’s Student Success platform as a First Year Experience (FYE) initiative to transition students into their first year at the community college, through their academic lifecycle and beyond as they transfer or graduate as alumni.
The partnership initially began as part of a larger California Community College adoption, however, PCC has expressed their desire to continue using Portfolium and expand on the platform.
“We selected Portfolium since it was a California statewide product that community colleges could use for free,” explained Leslie Tirapelle, Dean of Distance Education at Pasadena City College, “But now we want to continue using the product now under our own contract [in order to] provide free access to our students and faculty.”
“We are thrilled to hear that a California community college was able to quickly implement Portfolium and utilize it to support their initiatives,” said Nick Huberty, Director of Academic Partnerships at Portfolium, “This ease-of-accessibility to our Student Success solutions for all California community colleges is one of our proudest achievements yet.”
