Goucher College has selected Portfolium’s Student Success platform to support an unprecedented campus-wide undergraduate curriculum requirement developed to integrate career thinking into the four year student experience.
Utilizing Portfolium’s unique ePortfolio platform, Goucher will roll out a four year undergraduate curriculum initiative focused on developing a required cumulative ePortfolio that will follow students from their First-Year Experience (FYE) to their capstone project, and beyond as alumni. Using the Student Success platform, students will gain the ability to maintain lifelong access to curricular and co-curricular learning artifacts that can be used to reflect competency and career readiness skills as certified by the National Association of College and Employers (NACE). Students will then be able to use these skill-tagged learning artifacts to map their career and personal journey, as well as leverage internship and employment opportunities through Portfolium’s social network and TalentMatch features.
Staff and faculty will also benefit from the platform’s Assessment software, leveraging the ability to conduct direct, authentic assessments of student work samples to accurately measure student learning outcomes. Portfolium’s intuitive assessment tools also include customizable rubrics, curriculum mapping and easy one-click reporting.
Portfolium’s seamless integration with the Canvas LMS was a key decision point for Goucher in selecting the Student Success platform, along with Portfolium’s ability to "easily initiate and assess assignments" and "provide an easy-to-manage platform for an assessment-by-committee process," as cited by Donna Lummis, Associate Director of Academic Technologies at Goucher College. With Portfolium's intuitive user experience design and built-in support, Goucher plans to have all training completed and platform fully implemented in time for their August student orientation.
“Portflium’s mission goal has always been to connect learning with opportunity and we are more than thrilled to provide the platform to make definitive student success a concrete four year initiative at Goucher,” said Troy Markowitz, VP of Academic Partnerships.
