Coxsackie-Athens Central School District (C-A) has selected Portfolium’s Student Success Network, including Digital Badging, to provide students with the ability to showcase and reflect on their curricular and co-curricular learning experiences in a lifelong ePortfolio, which can be leveraged by students to provide evidence of college and career readiness.
“All Coxsackie-Athens students should graduate confident that their knowledge, skills, and dispositions are sufficient to pursue the personal, academic, social and career goals that they set for themselves,“ said Randall Squier, Superintendent of Schools at Coxsackie-Athens Central School District. “We all learn in a variety of ways. Students using Portfolium will be able to demonstrate readiness in a variety of ways.”
Coxsackie-Athens will roll out Portfolium’s digital badging technology, a platform that provides students with the ability to earn micro-credentials and digital badges and automatically have them displayed in their ePortfolios. The badges, which include full transparency into specific learning outcomes, rubrics and evidence of student work, will be issued in connection with the achievement of certain milestones along guided pathways, making it easy to construct visual paths representing varying degrees of depth, breadth, and rigor. Portfolium’s ePortfolios are portable and free for life for students to create and develop a unified learning profile throughout their academic lifecycle and beyond as alumni.
“We at Portfolium are aware that engaging students with active learning and metacognitive practices is something that should be presented and nurtured at every step of the academic ladder, especially in high school,” said Troy Markowitz, Vice President of Academic Partnerships at Portfolium. “This is why we are very thrilled to partner with the innovative team at Coxsackie-Athens Central School District and bring our Student Success platform to their wide array of students.”
