Virginia Watson is a teacher at National City Middle School in California's Sweetwater Union High School District near San Diego. She was drawn to education because throughout her own K-12 experience, she had wonderful, difference-making teachers. She empowers all of her students with the message that "life is good" and strives to make a difference through meaningful connections. As part of the Sweetwater District's 1:1 initiative, Ms. Watson has integrated iPads and the Canvas learning management system (LMS) into every aspect of her teaching. In addition to using a flipped classroom model, she now assigns more project-based assignments all in a practically paperless learning environment. She says Canvas by Instructure has increased student engagement and is so easy to use that it's become "second nature." Life is good for Virginia Watson's students, that's for sure.
