It’s exciting to hear that the Norwegian Digital Learning Arena (NDLA) has created an LTI integration with Instructure’s learning management platform, Canvas, allowing teachers and students to use NDLA's digital content directly in Canvas courses. Teachers can now create motivating learning paths for students and deliver a mix of pre-produced content from NDLA and self-produced content or activities. In short, educators can build entire subjects digitally based on NDLA and Canvas.
NDLA is a collaboration across 17 counties in Norway that provides freely available open educational resources (OER) for more than 100 subjects to upper secondary institutions. NDLA resources range from language subjects (such as English, Norwegian, Chinese, and German), science and technology, as well as a wide range of vocational subjects. For each subject, they provide quality-assured subject articles, learning paths, assignments, interactive content, videos, and films for varied teaching.
With more and more teachers and students in Scandinavia using Canvas, it’s important to support them with services and learning materials in local languages. Through this integration, NDLA is now part of an ever-expanding range of services using open standards in Instructure’s EduAppCenter, making it easier to facilitate a digital learning environment with quality content focused on competency goals and curriculum.
