On 7 August, 1858, the first Australian rules football match was played between Melbourne Grammar School and Scotch College. The schoolboys who played “footy” that Saturday didn’t know they were creating history—but their legendary match would lay the groundwork for modern Australian football code.
Exactly 157 years later, we held our first CanvasCon event for Australia and New Zealand on 7 August, 2015. No kicking or handballing was involved, but we scored big with more than 100 attendees from ANZ institutions.
Some of the highlights included:
Our first ANZ Canvassador, Helen Bremner from Trinity Grammar School, gave a presentation on change management.
Mitch Macfarlane, SVP for Canvas Customer Success, provided an overview of the Canvas product roadmap and future development plans.
Mindy Hintze, Canvas Product Engagement Specialist, offered tailored adoption sessions for both HE and K-12 attendees.
Client presentations in K-12 from Alex Fisher and Tom Lever of Newington College and Mark Pleasance of Sacred Heart College.
Client presentations in HE/VET from MRWED and TAFE NSW.
So, here’s to the first time for everything—and to laying the groundwork for Canvas in ANZ. We at Instructure Australia are excited to revolutionise learning with the most open and reliable LMS available. We hope to see you at our next CanvasCon event (and we’ll be playing by Australian rules).
