How Leaders Really Learn: The Role of Exposure in Developing Your People

Organizations with superior business, talent, and financial outcomes focus on creating a “systemic relationship with talent.” As part of that systemic focus, they intentionally cultivate optimal conditions for personal and professional development – especially for leaders. Andrea Derler, Ph.D., leads the Leadership & Succession Management research practice for Bersin by Deloitte, Deloitte Consulting LLP. She brings international work experience as a leadership trainer and coach and has a solid academic background in this role. Prior to joining Bersin, she collaborated closely with organizations in the United States as well as Europe in order to pursue practice-oriented leadership research. Andrea studied international management, organizational culture and integral leadership and facilitated leadership development efforts in a variety of industries. Andrea holds a doctoral degree in Economics (Leadership & Organization), and a master’s degree in Philosophy. Her work about leaders’ Ideal Employee recently received widespread media attention in Europe and was published in the Leadership & Organization Development Journal.
