Give your remote workers the tools they need to succeed.
Now that millennials are becoming a dominant force in the workplace - and globalism is taking hold - things are changing a bit. One of the biggest shifts in the modern workforce is the ability to work remotely. Your remote employees have different needs and challenges than your people in the office—so how do you provide them with the support and training they need for success? Well, we have some ideas to get you on the right track.
80-90% of the workforce would like to telecommute at least part time
This may seem a bit on the nose, but you need to pick the right person for the job. Not everyone is cut out for working from home. To hire a good remote worker, consider candidates who have worked remotely before, have run their own business, can make mature decisions independently, can communicate clearly, and who are goal-driven.

Over-communicating is a good thing with remote employees—however, make the majority of your communication feedback. Also, be available, transparent, manage expectations, and be clear with all of your written messages. Without the additional help of body language, you’ll need to be very clear with your employees about what their goals are and what your expectations are with them.

Leverage technology to collaborate. Whether it’s chatting, sharing slides, training, or assigning work, you should use technology to your advantage. You don’t need to spend your whole budget on software or apps when there are free or affordable alternatives like Bridge LMS, Slack, ToDoist, Basecamp, G-chat, and GoToMeeting.

Always provide your employees with more learning opportunities. Embrace and master remote team management. The remote trend shows no signs of slowing down, which means it’s a good time to streamline your remote management practices. Be aware of your team’s expectations and don’t forget to schedule some face time (even if it’s over FaceTime) to get to know your team beyond emails.
