A couple years ago, I created five ApprenNet exercises for my advanced legal research class. I can’t say one exercise was better than the other. Each exercise worked equally well because each exercise allowed students to simulate a real world skill and interact with peers in an otherwise traditionally passive course. To create the exercises, I simply adopted previous word document scenarios into scripts. All of my scripts asked students to advise a client. After converting the scenarios into scripts, I asked someone to play the role of the client. One of my favorite challenges is Stars and Stripes. Below you can see the challenge video for Stars & Stripes (i.e. the prompt students watch before submitting a video response to their hypothetical client), the challenge video's script, and the original scenario the script was based upon. Enjoy!
