Soft skills are difficult to teach, although they’re needed in every industry. One of the toughest soft skills to develop is delivering bad news, particularly news that can drastically change the lives of recipients. Building trust with patients through strong communication and empathy is no simple task. Shouting, punching walls, and death threats are all situations doctors may have to deal with when informing patients and family members of terminal illness or death.
