Instructure recently attended the University of Washington's (UW) Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Career Fair while preparing to fill a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDETs) internship position for Summer 2018 in our Seattle office. The SWE Career Fair was open to all students seeking internships, co-ops, and full-time employment in the fields of engineering, science, and technology, with the first hour and half open only to SWE members.
Instructure values diversity in engineering and is working toward a higher representation of women and underrepresented groups on our engineering teams. Out of the 98 resumes we received, 71 were from women. It was a pleasure to meet many talented and passionate individuals who are interested in growing their careers in a workplace that values diversity and inclusion.
We look forward to welcoming interns to all of our offices across the globe. I’m excited that we extended an offer to someone we met at the University of Washington’s Society of Women Engineers Career Fair and pleased that she accepted the SDET internship. I personally look forward to acting as a mentor for some of our incoming interns and helping them have an awesome experience at work.
