How does the saying go? “Find a Mebipenny, pick it up, and all day long you’ll have good luck.” That’s pretty close, but in this case, we’re talking about 2.5 million pennies that can be picked up by a bonafide (or self-proclaimed) genius who relies on skill more than luck.
Here’s the challenge: if you’re an expert or even a novice coding genius who wouldn’t mind picking up a grand prize of $25K—or any part of $75K in total prizes—bring your skills to either our Salt Lake City or Chicago offices on Sept. 12, 2015 for the Instructure Mebipenny Coding Challenge.
If you’re also a student of history, or you just want to size up the competition from past years, you can read all about the winners of our 2011 and 2012 coding showdowns. This year, we’re upping the ante and increasing the literal Mebipenny ($10,485.76) to a larger, more round number that looks better on giant checks. Because, seriously, we never intended to make you pick up and roll millions of pennies.
To take your shot at the grand prize—or any of the other prizes that are also pretty grand—make sure you’ll be in Salt Lake City or Chicago on Saturday the 12th (because you have to show up to compete), then sign up and start training. It’s free to enter, but with so much cash, good stuff, and ultimate bragging rights on the line, you really can’t afford to sit the bench, or the couch, or the IKEA Ektorp, or whatever.
Yeah, we know it’s all about skill, but don’t forget to wear your lucky tube socks. See you there.
