“She’s Geeky” isn’t an insult. Just the opposite—it’s a way to describe women and girls who explore, discover, create, and solve problems. It’s also the name of a regional event we’re bringing to Salt Lake City for the first time ever this fall.
On Sept. 18 and 19, 2015, Instructure will host the She’s Geeky unconference “for women and geeks of all kinds to share, connect, network, learn, inspire, and have lots of fun.” Being an unconference means the agenda will begin with a blank whiteboard and end with a day’s worth of participant-created, multi-track sessions.
Geeky women from all fields that intersect with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are invited to gather at Instructure’s Salt Lake City office, where they can:
Build relationships and even partnerships across disciplines.
Learn something new from other geeky women.
Find answers to the questions that matter to them.
Consider business issues related to the technology industry.
Be exposed to new ideas for making and keeping technology relevant.
So, register for one or both days (and bring your daughter) to “geek out” and share a discussion with other women about their jobs, their passions, their lives, and their hobbies in an encouraging, non-competitive environment. And, since you're reading this blog post, you can get a 25 percent discount by registering with the code INSTRUCTURE25.
